Installation and Care Instructions
NOTICE: Review Frigidaire Refrigerator Use and Care Guide before installation and use of system.
1. Push to release current filter, remove and discard.
2. Slide the new filter into the housing and push until it locks in place.
3. Run water through the dispenser for approximately 3 minutes, or 1.5 gallons, to prime the filter before use. Discard the water.
4. Replace every 6 months or 125 gallons (473 liters), whichever comes first.

I did not know how to score this filter. I give it a rating of a 1 because of the price. $50 for a water filter seems high. My issue is that I purchased some generic filters and they would not stay in places. I ended up throwing those away and buying the Frig filter. I wished it lasted longer

It, like the last one, arrived in a crush retail hang for display package inside a bubble enevlope. The filter itself seems to be OK with its protective endcaps still in place. It should work win it is installed as the last has. For this kind of price I would have thought there would be better protection of the filter.

Being NSF certified (42, 53 and 401) is really important for filters like this. If they are not certified by NSF then you can’t really know if they do what they say they do. The NSF certification usually raises the price and these aren’t cheap filters but to me it’s worth it to know it’s reducing levels of contaminants (for me, in particular, pesticides).
You can save some money here if you wait for the price to dip and then buy a few at a time. Loading up with 4 will give you a hefty bill but you’ll be good for 2 years then pick up more as the sales happen through the year. Using that strategy, my cost through the year is a little under 5 dollars a month which seems fair to me.
