I have terrible tasting tap water so I buy reverse osmosis (RO) purified water in bulk from a local market and use a pump and hose to deliver the RO water to the fridge. You’d think with thoroughly purified water, having gone through a sediment filter, RO, UV light and a carbon filter to “polish” the flavor, there’d be no need to have a fridge filter. Not so! This fridge filter removes the very slight off flavor coming from the water storage carboy, pump, hose and piping in the refrigerator. It makes the water taste like it’s coming from a pristine high mountain stream!
